Thailand Confirms Cyanide Poisoning in Deaths of Six Foreigners at Bangkok Hotel

BANGKOK (Reuters) — Thai security sensing the situation was now manageable, said that cyanide poisoning led to the death of six foreigners in a room at the fancy fate of the Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel here. Unfortunately, the suspect was among the people who died in the bomb blast.
Police and hospital sources said that some samples of the bodies that were subjected to autopsies and the drinking glasses and a teapot at the hotel room where the bodies were recovered late Tuesday had traces of the lethal substance.

In the interviews with the surviving relatives of the three women and three men, it was seen that the cause of the conflict was due to a problem over debt regarding an investment and this led the police to dig through the source of the cyanide.

Five of the victims were of Vietnamese origin and within that group, two of the victims were American citizens. The investigation involved assistance from the U. S. Federal Bureau of Investigation otherwise known as FBI.

‘Six of them can be presumed to have died from cyanide,’ said Dr Kornkiat Vongpaisarnsin, a pathologist of Chulalongkorn Hospital, adding that the findings of other tests would be released the following Friday.

The U. S. State Department has interest in the problem but the investigation process stays on the local authorities.

Vietnam’s foreign ministry later affirmed concerning the deaths of four Vietnamese citizens. They are synergizing with the relevant authorities by having an embassy in the regional country which in this case is Thailand.

Well, it is expected that the families of the victims will soon get over the great loss said the foreign ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang.

The Erawan group manages the hotel and it is a large hotel with over 350 rooms located in a major tourist hub characterized with this luxury shopping and dining.
